Nicaragua November 16 - 24, 2019, SR1448

Opportunity Overview

NOTE: Since April of 2018, Nicaragua has changed quite dramatically, from once the quiet and peaceful spot in Central America to a country that has experienced months of protests, road blocks, schools, universities and businesses closing… to hundreds of deaths, many more imprisoned and even those who have disappeared. GHO had a team in country when the crisis broke out. We then had to cancel the next 8 teams in 2018 and all teams the first half of 2019.

There now appears to be a more stabilized country with a “new normal” where schools and universities are open, business and restaurants are open later into the evenings and churches holding services as usual.  For several months now there have been no  protests, no open criticism of the government, and acceptance to what the government is doing.  GHO now feels it is time to begin sending our teams back to serve in Nicaragua . The people of Nicaragua are hurting physically, emotionally and spiritually, and they need us to come along side and be the body of Christ to them.

We welcome physicians, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, first responders, dental hygienists, dental assistants, physical/occupation therapists, students, logistics (non-medical helpers), and a trip photographer/videographer on all of our general medicine and dentistry trips.13095 W n

Our team will partner with local pastors sharing both the love of Christ and the Word of God to the precious, needy people of Nicaragua. The relationship between the GHO Team and these pastors has grown deeper with each year. This ministry is a very special one and the relationship between the GHO team and these faithful pastors is very special indeed. We will have the assistance of GHO's resources in Nicaragua which include GHO Central America Director, Rolando Castillo and his staff, as well as some medical and dental equipment. The team will be fed and watered well!

We expect to provide a broad range of services including the usual public health education, an eye clinic with the single vision prescription glasses as well as sunglasses and non-prescription readers.
