This will be GHO’s first ministry in Ind_nesia, the most populous Muslim majority nation in the world. The GHO team will fly into Denpasar (Bali, Ind*nesia) and then take a one hour plane ride to Waingapu, the largest city on the island of Sumba (note: GHO team members will be ticketed only to and from Denpasar. The cost for that domestic air fare is included in the trip fee).

Our intended ministry will be a challenging endeavor on multiple levels. We seek to provide primary health services (medical, dental, pharmacy, eyeglass clinic) in a needy population. Our clinics sites include small rural churches, a site where evangelists are working but have not yet established a church, a local Christian hospital and a free medical clinic near a slum. Some sites will require travel and other sites are closer to Waingapu, where we will stay.

We also plan on hosting a Pastor’s Conference for the pastors of East Sumba. Our intent is to be used by God to bring about reconciliation, repentance and revival in His church. We also hope to encourage these poor rural pastors and provide some needed discipleship training. The “Sumba Fund” has been created through the CMDA-GHO to raise the needed funds for this endeavor. Funding for this activity is not derived from GHO participant trip fees.

Additionally, our National Partners, HCF-Ind_nesia, and the GHO team will participate in a one day health seminar in Waingapu. Some GHO team members will share their testimony. HCF will work to recruit health profession students to work as our translators for this mission. This offers an additional wonderful dynamic to the mission. Some of these students may come from a Muslim background, but we expect to be able to openly share the gospel.
