URGENT NEEDS: Dentist, Dental Hygienist, Pharmacist & Physical Therapist

Fushë-Arrëz, Albania is a Gospel-starved town at the ends of the earth in a country experiencing a move of God. Situated in mountainous northern Albania, a 3.5 hour drive from the capital city of Tirana and isolated from the rest of the country. Fushë-Arrëz is considered the poorest area of the nation with the least educated people. There are 4,117 people in town, and the language spoken is Gege Albanian. The copper mine employs 300 persons, but there are only a few other jobs giving a local unemployment rate of >80%. This has led to a high rate of drinking, gambling, and domestic abuse and lends to significant men and women's ministry needs. Led by dedicated Pastor Marian Doda, a church of 30 evangelicals is slowly growing and making an impact on the community for the sake of Christ's name and His glory.

Though Islam is the predominant religion in Albania, the predominant religion in this northern area of the country is Catholicism. There are no mosques in Fushë-Arrëz. There is a Catholic church in the community, and the nuns are active in charity, such as giving bags of flour to the poor, and providing free vitamins and medication to those too poor to purchase them from the pharmacy. The people are very friendly and inviting and open to hearing the Gospel, especially in the context of friendship relationships.

Primary care, dentistry, and physical therapy are the greatest needs and the focus of this mission. Common medical diagnoses according to our local host Marian are "heart problems, low and high blood pressure, respiration diseases, bone diseases, diabetes, back pains, strong headaches." The dental health needs are even greater with a high need for exodontia and restorative services. "Dentists are available but the area is so poor that the majority of people can't afford any service."

Our ideal pioneer team would be a united majority of Albanian ministry partners, translators and medical/dental folks working in fellowship with our team of twelve expatriates. There is a local female physiotherapist who is a member of the church. We hope for 4 medical providers, 2 dentists, 1 physical therapist, 1 lead discipler, 1 nurse, 1 pharmacist, 1 women's ministry specialist, and 1 logistics person. A medical/dental student could serve in one of these roles. God's glory, constant prayer, and the team growth as obedient Jesus-followers are major goals of this outreach.

"Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise from the ends of the earth." (Isaiah 42:10 NIV) If God is calling you and challenging you to step out in faith and victory, join us as we sing a new song and His praise from the ends of the earth with our Albanian brothers and sisters.
