SE Asia, Jan 30 - Feb 6, 2027, Human Trafficking Care, w/Dr. Ileen Herrero-Szostak, SR1758
Despite prostitution being illegal in this SE Asia location, human sex trafficking is a rife industry in the country. This location receives a large number of immigrants from all over the world. Many of those immigrants are in desperate situations and end up being trapped in a well-organized chain of human trafficking, involuntary servitude, and sex work. In this medical mission, we will partner with a local NGO whose work is "to reach out to, rescue, and restore those negatively impacted by sex trafficking and commercial sex exploitation." We will hold a medical and dental clinic at one of our partner's ministry sites, strategically located in the a red light district. We expect to see individuals with many unmet health needs as they have limited access to care and suffer from the stigma related to prostitution, as well as the control of their traffickers. While being attended to with compassion and the redeeming love of Jesus by our team, our local partner will continue building relationships leading to a path of freedom and restoration through their many programs, which include education, skill training, job opportunities, and repatriation assistance.
Prayerfully consider God's calling to serve with us in SE Asia. It will be a challenging, yet extremely rewarding experience for anyone who loves God and all of His people and wants to help end injustices in the name of Christ. We are seeking physicians, PAs, and NPs trained and skilled in Gynecology, as we will be doing basic pelvic exams and STI testing. We also welcome dentists, dental assistants, hygienists, pharmacists, nurses, sonographers, therapists, and non-medical servants.
