Hi, my name is Ruthie and I’m a licensed mental health counselor who has participated in GHO trips since 2012. It always amazes me that no matter what country we go to no matter who makes up the team God's design for that trip ( not only for the people that he sends us to but for each one of us on the team) it’s always played out before our eyes.
We received the blessing of ministering to a population of people who reside beside and who work at/on a huge landfill approximately an hour, or so away from Antigua.
It truly was a blessing to join the team of the in-country land of hope ministry to provide medical care dental care, optical care, and pharmacy along with the hope of Jesus to people who go through such suffering.
The thing that always amazes me, though is how our awesome holy God prepared the hearts long before we arrived, He provided for the place, and ultimately arranged it all.
He hand-picked our team, both in-country and out of the country, as well as the leaders of our team. He made sure everyone’s funding was provided for, and that their hearts were emptied out from the things of the world, and filled with Him.
Out of all the people on this trip, there was one woman who had suffered so badly. She had a very serious mental health condition, and out of all the people that she could have been triaged by God, arranged that it was me. it blows me away how He brought me from New York to Guatemala to share the gifts that He gave to me and to minister to, and help serve his valuable precious child in that moment as well as to provide a team of people and country to continue providing love, and support as well as fellowship for her.
And although this miracle blew me away, there were countless other miracles like watching one team member, give his heart to the Lord and seeing so many other team members, go through an amazing transformation.
This is the very reason that I keep coming back year after year.
God’s word says we are to love one another the way He loves us.
1 Samuel 2:8
“He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. “For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; on them, he has set the world.”
