Fushë-Arrëz, Albania is a town at the ends of the earth in a country experiencing a move of God. Situated in mountainous northern Albania, a 3.5 hour drive from the capital city of Tirana and isolated from the rest of the country, Fushë-Arrëz is considered the poorest area of the nation with the least educated people. There are 4,600 people in town, and the language spoken is Gege Albanian. The copper mine employs most, but there are only a few other jobs making unemployment extremely high.. This has led to a high rate of drinking, gambling, and domestic abuse and lends to significant men and women's ministry needs. Led by dedicated Pastor Marian Doda, a church of evangelicals is slowly growing and making an impact on the community.

The predominant religion in this northern area of the country is Catholicism. There is a Catholic church in the community, and the nuns are active in charity, such as giving bags of flour to the poor, and providing free vitamins and medication to those too poor to purchase them from the pharmacy. The people are very friendly, inviting and open to hearing the gospel; especially in the context of a friendly relationship.

This will be different from the usual GHO team! We will be focusing on Public Health teaching and Community development. We will not be providing our typical medical and dental brigade but rather teaching poor communities basic and preventive health care. Our plan is work beside some Albanian students or some graduates from the local CMDA International type organizations.  We are looking for team members with an interest in public and preventative health and using this platform as a way to share the gospel and provide aid to this impoverished area.
