North Africa/Middle East January 12 - 20/2018, SR1348
This trip is now closed. Please check out our other opportunities at www.ghotrips.org.
We welcome physicians, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, first responders, dental hygienists, dental assistants, physical/occupation therapists, students, logistics (non-medical helpers), and a trip photographer/videographer on our general medicine and dentistry trips.
This very small, very strategic primary care medicine and dentistry team will work in a new government-sponsored health post in this nation. After arriving in the international airport and purchasing visas, the team will stay in a guesthouse, and travel a short distance to the clinic site each day. The residents of the area where the clinic is located are often recent immigrants, and are very poor. The government is seeking to provide healthcare for them, and has invited our team in to help.
Our national partners know the language and culture, and have excellent working relationships with the government authorities. They are a joy with whom to work. Last January was the first missions there and an incredible experience. We anticipate repeat visits as we come alongside the government authorities as they meet the needs of this community. The hospitality shown the team by the local authorities, especially the mayor, was amazing and humbling. There is great need in this country where most of the people we will see have little or no access to medical care. Malnutrition is a significant problem among the children as well. Would you prayerfully consider joining me on this "extraordinary adventure" God has provided?
The team will be bare bones - four primary care providers (an OB/GYN would be a huge blessing!), a dentist, a nurse, a pharmacist, and a non-medical person to run a reading glass clinic. For more information about the location and work, contact the team leader, Andy Lamb, MD, at [email protected].
