This trip is now closed. Please explore our other trip opportunities at www.ghotrips.org.

This trip will entail a medical, dental and eyeglass clinic but with an emplasis for the 'first-time' to short-term mission dentist who asks "Just how do you set up a mobile clinic for dentistry?" The best opportunity to learn is during a normal short-term mission trip with experienced dentists who have done short-term missions for years.  Thus we are announcing our trip including "New to Missions - Dentist Training!"

We are blessed to provide primary medical and dental care to the nationals in Quito, Ecuador. El Comité del Pueblo is one of the 65 urban parishes in the capital city of Ecuador. It is located in the northern end of the city. This parish alone has approximately 60,000 inhabitants. Quito is located in the Andes mountains, at an altitude of 9,350 ft. above sea level. Those with health issues involving their lungs should take this into consideration.

Our contact is an enthusiastic pastor who is doing a good job of reaching his community for Christ.  Marilyn and Tammy have high regard for him and we want to help support his ministry. He was instrumental in planting a church in La Roldos, Pisuli with the help of the March GHO team that came in 2016. Now he is heading down the same path in another area of Quito, called “El Comité del Pueblo (The People's Committee).

El Comité del Pueblo is a place with high rates of alcoholism, drug use and trafficking, single mothers, family violence and abuse, and foreign immigration (mostly Venezuelan refugees). Because it is a poor area, the needs are many. We want to enter and contribute to the community by bringing the Good News through medical care to this underserved population, and spark a desire in the locals to know more about Jesus. For an in-depth article about how we utilize medical teams in our church planting strategy, see Today’s Christian Doctor, Volume 48 No 2 – Summer 2017.

Our national hosts are Marilyn Guido, RN (ret.) and Tammy Ramirez, who have been working with GHO since 1999.

Marilyn and her husband, John, have been in Ecuador since 1988 and hosting CMDA/ GHO teams for 20 plus years.  John has been extensively involved in church planting, mentoring and making disciples in the Arco Ministries churches. He ministers in many churches internationally. The first Arco church that they planted in Cuenca has in turn helped spawn Arco churches all over Ecuador.  Learn more about their ministry here: Arco Ministries   and  Family Health Foundation

Tammy Vintimilla is Marilyn’s administrative assistant and does most of the logistics in hosting our GHO teams. She and her husband, Fernando have been gifted leaders in the Arco Ministry outreaches.

Ecuador is one of my very favorite countries because of the beautiful and varied people groups, amazing national partners, and the stunning beauty of the land of the Andes Mountains, Pacific Coast and Amazon jungle.

It is their passion to serve the underserved all over the country, and they are excited to be able to receive YOU for this amazing time that God is preparing!
