Philippines, Mar 10 - 25, 2027, w/Larry Thurston, SR1765
On this mission, we will have a long journey to Cebu, Philippines where we will overnight and then take a ferry to the island of Leyte. This is the 8th largest island in the Philippines’ 7,000+ islands. It is reliant on fishing, rice, and other agriculture. The population of the local town Matalom is 33,000 with the island having about 2.6 million. The area is underserved in healthcare, and we will be offering hope and healing to many with little to no access to healthcare. We likely will provide 7 days of clinics with one or more days of clinic at a small offshore island which has 4,400 persons with virtually no local healthcare.
We are recruiting physicians, ophthalmologists, dermatologists, dentists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, dental hygienists, pharmacists, nurses, EMT and paramedics, first responders, and non-medical servants.
The Philippines requires some teaching in the hospital, so we are looking for doctors also willing to step aside from the clinic to do some teaching. We will find out potential topics they want to learn about well ahead of our mission.
Our national partner is a small church planted about 15 years ago. We will attend church with them both weekends we are there.
The primary language is Cebuano, with most speaking some English as well. We will have interpreters to assist our team. Our clinic will run Monday through Friday and again Monday through Tuesday the following week. On the weekend, we will have a couple of days to enjoy some of the local beauty of the Philippines. Additional travel must be booked on your own and coordinated with GHO travel before booking.
