Philippines, May 1 - 16, 2024, w/Dr. Trish Burgess, SR1645
We welcome physicians, surgeons, dentists, pharmacists, dermatologists, optometrists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, first responders, dental hygienists, dental assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, students, servants (non-medical helpers), and a trip photographer/videographer on all our general medicine and dentistry trips.
On this mission, we will have a long journey to Cebu, Philippines where we will overnight and then take a ferry to the island of Bato. This is an island that is reliant on fishing, rice, and other agriculture. The population of the local town is 40,000 with the island having about 250,000 population. The area is underserved in healthcare, and we will be offering hope and healing to many with little to no access to healthcare.
This will be a unique opportunity to combine our general medical and dental mission with a surgical component. For this first mission, we are looking for a surgeon or two willing to join us and meet with the hospital to review resources and surgical needs they have to allow us to assist in planning a surgical component in the future.
The Philippines requires some teaching in the hospital, so we are looking for doctors also willing to step aside from the clinic to do some teaching. We will find out potential topics they are wanting to learn about well ahead of our mission.
Our national partner is a small church planted years ago. We will attend church with them both weekends we are there.
The primary language is Cebuano with most speaking some English as well. We will have interpreters to assist our team. Our clinic will run Monday through Saturday, then we will have a couple of days to enjoy some of the local beauty of the Philippines before we head home. Additional travel must be booked on your own and coordinated with GHO travel before booking.

Prerequisites
- IMPORTANT! The expiration date on your passport MUST be at least 6 months past the return date of your trip. Processing times for new passports and passport renewals is 3 - 4 months so we advise you to start the process immediately after you have been approved for the trip if your passport expiration date does not meet the requirement.
- Foreign language skills are appreciated, but not required.
