Dental and Medical Students and Family Friendly Trip –

We welcome physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, dental and medical students, pharmacists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, first responders, physical/occupational therapists, servants (non-medical helpers), and a trip photographer/videographer on all of our general medicine and dentistry trips.

Ron Brown and Dr. Tyler Blount will be leading this team to Ecuador.  They have been partnering in dental missions for many years with Dr. Dave Maddy, who always recruited an amazing team of dental students and dentists serving as mentors, from the University of Louisville. Many of these trips have also flourished from the partnership of medical doctors and medical students from various CMDA chapters across the country. The goal with these trips has always been to help encourage dental and medical students to be able to use their professional skillset to share the gospel and help our local partner churches reach their community through medical/dental clinics.

We will fly into Quito and from there fly to our medical/dental clinic in Loja, Ecuador, where we will be partnering with the local dental school in Loja to provide free medical and dental care on their campus. Loja sits at around 6700 ft and is located in the Cuxibamba valley in southern Ecuador. The population of 181,000, is a mix of mestizo and indigenous peoples. Loja is a commercial center for the southern mountains of Ecuador. In the surrounding countryside, they make a living mainly by growing sugar cane and maintaining vacation home properties.

We will be blessed to serve alongside Pastor Juan Diego Valdivieso and his wife, Katerina. Their Arco church was started 6 years ago and has around 200 members.

Our local hosts are Marilyn Guido and Tammy Ramirez. Tammy is Marilyn’s administrative assistant and coordinates most of the logistics with our GHO teams. She is a gifted leader in the Arco Cuenca church. Marilyn and her husband have been missionaries in Ecuador and Peru, since 1988. They have recently gone back to pastoring one of the Arco churches in Cuenca, while John continues to supervise and mentor in 11 other Arco churches in Ecuador as well as churches in Cuba and Brazil. More information about the Arco group of churches can be found at www.arcoministries.org. They have a non-profit foundation and full-time clinic in Cuenca, that provides the legal umbrella for our team to enter and work in-country. We’ll get a peek at that during the week! More info at www.familyfnd.org. They have been hosting GHO teams since 1999.

We welcome your heart to serve the people of Ecuador and are looking forward to an amazing time!
