For about 24 years, I have had the desire to go to Central or South America to help those in need. Choices in my life had let me away from that desire but God has opened that door for me, and I am going to Nicaragua from July 15 to 23, 2017. Over the course of the past couple of years, I started talking again about different ways I can help people in foreign countries: the Peace Corp and volunteer vacations. In the Fall of 2014, God started to led me to Grace Community Church, in Orange County, NY. Grace Community Church became home for so many reasons: the people, the pastors, and of course my relationship with Jesus. That leads to the door that was opened for me. I attended a session in the Spring of 2016 on one of the medical missions Grace was involved in through GHO. The light bulb went on. This is what I was being called to do but the timing wasn't right to go during the Summer of 2016. But this year is the right time. I don't know what I am most excited about: helping the doctors and the people of Nicaragua with their medical needs, aiding in people spiritual growth, or the change in myself. No matter what, it will be an amazing week!
