Our team journeyed to a very secluded village high in the mountains in a closed country where only one person in the village follows Jesus. This Muslim village received us with kindness and were very grateful for our being willing to travel so far to help them. I prayed for many in the name of Jesus, ‘Isa,' who they recognized as a prophet who heals. Many of the women kissed my hands after praying for them In Jesus’s, 'Isa’s', name. I was surprised to see their response.
I also witnessed a miracle in that village. On the first day I saw patients, I asked a lady what her problem was. She showed me her neck where she had a goiter. This goiter is related to a lack of iodine which is common in such third world conditions. She also had complaints of back pain from hard work and other concerns. In the end, I gave her medicines for parasites, vitamins, ibuprofen, but I had nothing for her main complaint which was the goiter. I asked her and our translator if iodine was available in the village to help her with the goiter and they answered, “No.” I then told the lady that I lacked the medicine to help her with her goiter but that ‘Isa a masia’, Jesus Messiah, was able to take care of her goiter and would I have her permission to pray to Isa to take care of her goiter. She agreed and I prayed. Afterward she thanked me and kissed my hands. The lady then went to get her medicine while I continued to see patients. A few minutes later, the pastor who we were working with, arrived at our ‘clinic’ after returning to pick up the rest of the team from a nearby town. He handed me a bag with some isolated medications. I opened the bag to find two bottles of iodine. I couldn’t believe this since no one had even suggested a need for iodine and it was never part of our formulary. In amazement, I asked why he had gotten the iodine. The pastor said, “God told me we needed this medicine.” I told him I had just prayed with a patient for Jesus to take care of her since we lacked the medicine for her thyroid and while she was still waiting, the iodine showed up. I had not said anything to anyone about this lady’s problem and the need for iodine and then, our pastor shows up with just what the lady needed. I felt the power of the Lord as I took the two bottles to the patient and I let her know that Jesus had just answered our prayer for her thyroid. Miraculously, Jesus had provided for her the medicine she needed and we lacked. Incredible miraculous intervention that left all of us worshiping God and for me, strengthening again my faith to let me know that Jesus still does miracles in answer to our prayers. I will not forget this experience and in my mind, I continue to see those two bottles of iodine in that bag…tangible evidence of Christ’s presence and power today.
