Middle East, October 9 - 21, 2021, Refugee Care, w/Ron Brown, SR1543
NOTE: GHO has a COVID plan to do our best to keep trip participants and our patients safe and healthy. We are watching country requirements closely. It is possible this mission will cancel in which case your application and funds will be moved to a future mission of your choice.
*Currently CDC has lifted guidelines and no longer recommend a quarantine upon return to the U.S. if you have been vaccinated for COVID-19. We do however recommend you check with your employer or hospital for their requirements before committing to the mission.
All team members must be Covid-19 vaccinated to attend this mission trip. This includes ages 16 and up, with younger team members not allowed to attend at this time. All Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted as soon as safely possible.
*Special Travel Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions and regulations, no deviations from the trip dates will be allowed.
This trip is looking for primary care providers, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, and physical therapists. We will focus on ministering to refugees. The humanitarian crisis in this country continues to be ongoing. The majority of the refugees are seeking safety no longer found in their homeland. One of our patients related to us, “We have seen evil and fled our native land to save our lives with only the clothes on our back; we left everything behind. We found Jesus and would do it all over again, just to find Jesus". This country is one of the largest hosts of refugees per capita in the world. About 80% of the refugees are not in refugee camps but living in small apartments and hovels with multiple families in one apartment.
We are partnering with two evangelical churches who have sacrificed much and been devoted to helping the refugees with food distributions, clothing, furnishings, cooking necessities, women’s programs, schools for the children, medical and dental clinics, etc. Come join us in coming alongside our brothers and sisters and serving the least, the lost and the last. We will be doing home visits in one section of the capital, going to a small refugee camp on the border and the last days we will conduct a more traditional clinic, again with the refugees.
