NOTE: GHO has a COVID plan to do our best to keep trip participants and our patients safe and healthy. We are watching country requirements closely. It is possible this mission will cancel in which case your application and funds will be moved to a future mission of your choice.

All team members must be Covid-19 vaccinated OR have documentable natural immunity by recent Covid infection along with a doctor’s note of recovery or by antibody testing to attend this mission trip.  All restrictions are dependent on the requirements of the country of destination.

*Special Travel Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions and regulations, no deviations from the trip dates will be allowed unless arranged by the individual in communication with the team leader and the GHO Travel Coordinator.

We welcome physicians, dentists, pharmacists, dermatologists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, first responders, dental hygienists, dental assistants, physical/occupational therapists, students, logistics (non-medical helpers), and a trip photographer/videographer on all of our general medicine and dentistry trips.

We are blessed to provide primary medical and dental care to the nationals in Siguatepeque, Honduras. This team will be led by GHO team leaders Nate Benard, our Atlanta CMDA Area Director, and Natalie Ali, a nurse practitioner, and CMDA Atlanta council member.

This is a great first trip!  Bring the family.  The climate is amazing.  Our host, Pastor Mevin and his family are delightful.  Our hotel is only minutes away from our clinic, which allows for more team time and free time and less travel time.  Outstanding food too!

We will be hosted by the Iglesia Bautista Emanuel (Emmanuel Baptist Church) in Siguatepeque, Honduras that is pastored by Melvin Romero. This is the home church of Tina Cedillos, who has served as our GHO Lab Tech since the early years of GHO ministry in Honduras, that initiated back in 1999. There are several other Baptist churches that will partner with Melvin and his home church to host our GHO team. Siguatepeque is home to the well-known Hospital Evangelica, founded by the Central American Mission. This hospital is now self-sustaining (a very good thing) but requires payment upfront for any services. So most people in Siguatepeque have to travel to Comayagua or La Paz to get the government health care they can afford.

Our team will fly into San Pedro Sula and ride a bus to Siguatepeque, a two-hour trip. Siguatepeque is at 3,600 feet altitude and offers a cooler, low-humidity, mountain setting. After a great week of ministry in Siguatepeque, we will explore some of the flora and fauna of Lago Yojoa, the largest lake (79 sq. kilometers) in Honduras.  This lake with the zip lining and waterfall tour is incredible!

For more information about this trip, please contact Team Leader Nate Benard, MDiv at [email protected], and/or Assistant Team Leader Natalie Ali at [email protected].
