NOTE: GHO has a COVID plan to do our best to keep trip participants and our patients safe and healthy. We are watching country requirements closely. It is possible this mission will cancel in which case your application and funds will be moved to a future mission of your choice.

All team members must be Covid-19 vaccinated OR have documentable natural immunity by recent Covid infection along with a doctor’s note of recovery or by antibody testing to attend this mission trip.  All restrictions are dependent on the requirements of the country of destination.

*Special Travel Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions and regulations, no deviations from the trip dates will be allowed unless arranged by the individual in communication with the team leader and the GHO Travel Coordinator.

Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America bordered by Honduras and Costa Rica as well as the Caribbean and Pacific oceans while holding a very dear place in our hearts. It is a beautiful country with amazing people who are such a joy to serve. It is also among the poorest countries in Central America. COVID-19 has taken its toll as well, but things have stabilized and GHO considers it safe to return.

Our team gets the special opportunity to once again join Nicaragua GHO director Rolando Castillo and his team, as we will be taking a team to an area of great need. We will also partner with several local churches and pastors to train and support them. The local church is the key to success for any GHO team, as they are the people that remain in the area after we depart, and they will be discipling those we have ministered to. Our combined team will provide top-notch medical and dental care through our clinic and some home visits and will be sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as we provide that care. Additionally, we will have a simple eye clinic that provides reading glasses. We hope to have a physical therapy team and we will have a community health training opportunity to empower local believers by teaching them to take blood pressures, make rehydration salts and learn basic wound and burn care, etc.

This mission will have a specific twist just right for the surfer! We will be serving in a coastal area just right for those interested in surfing! We will have our GHO team as usual, but for those interested, they will have the opportunity to do a little surfing in the morning and evening. This area will be for experienced surfers! Those interested in learning will be able to take a surfing lesson after our clinic week is over, try horseback riding or even just relax and enjoy the beach as our team has the opportunity to reflect on the week as part of our reentry process.

We are going to offer them free healthcare. But more importantly, through a kind word, a warm smile, a loving touch, and our health care, they will receive the message of a loving Savior in Jesus Christ.  We will be offering them the Greatest News and the very reason He sent His only son! Are you willing to join this team, to be His hands and feet to broken, impoverished, hurting people?
