This trip is now closed.  Please explore our other trip opportunities at www.ghotrips.org.

We welcome physicians, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, first responders, dental hygienists, dental assistants, physical/occupational therapists, students, and logistics (non-medical helpers) on all of our general medicine and dentistry trips.

Calshi is a small Quechua community of about 800 people located on the slopes of Mount Chimborazo, the highest mountain in Ecuador.

Wikipedia says: With a peak elevation of 6,263 m (20,548 ft), Chimborazo is the highest mountain in Ecuador. It is the highest peak near the equator. Chimborazo is not the highest mountain by elevation above sea level, but its location along the equatorial bulge makes its summit the farthest point on the Earth's surface from the Earth's center (as well as the point on Earth closest to the moon).

We will be working with Pastor Segundo Paca. He started the local church about 30 years ago, and has since started churches in San Gerardo and Hierbabuena, as well. The church has around 200 regular members. The whole community is looking forward to our visit.

We will stay on the northern outskirts of Riobamba, the closest large town, about a 3 hour bus ride south of Quito.

A team member, Dr. Jared Wyrick, from a few years back prepared this video, if you’d like to get an idea of what you could expect to see…..
